CattleMax Q2 2026 Product Updates
More reporting tools. Better performance tracking. Easier data entry.
Over the past few months, we’ve continued adding new features and improvements to CattleMax based on feedback from ranchers, breeders, and breed association users. Whether you’re tracking weights, managing breeding records, building sale catalogs, or analyzing forage quality, these updates are designed to make recordkeeping more efficient and provide more insight into your operation.
Here’s a look at what was added during the second quarter.
Better Reporting & Export Tools
Modern Excel Exports
Report exports now generate in the modern .XLSX format, making them more compatible with current versions of Excel and spreadsheet software.
For larger reports, CattleMax can now generate your export and send you a secure download link by email. Download links remain active for seven days, allowing you to continue working in CattleMax while reports are being prepared.
Improved Report Generation Experience
When generating reports and worksheets, you’ll now see progress indicators and status messages so you know what’s happening while your report is being prepared.
More Data in Custom Reports
Additional pedigree information is now available in report column selectors, including:
- Maternal Grandsire
- Maternal Granddam
Contact Reports have also been expanded to allow custom Contact fields to be included as report columns.
Improved Performance Tracking
Several updates were added to help producers better evaluate animal performance.
Automatic ADG Calculations
Average Daily Gain (ADG) can now be automatically calculated from the most recent weight record unless another reference weight is selected.
This helps you quickly evaluate performance without additional calculations.
Weaning Weight Ratio Improvements
Weight ratios can now be calculated during spreadsheet imports when appropriate weaning data and contemporary groups are included.
This allows imported records to produce the same performance calculations available when weaning calves directly through the CattleMax dashboard.
Automatic Ranking
Weaning and Yearling measurements can now automatically calculate rank values, making it easier to compare animals within contemporary groups.
Feed & Forage Improvements
Hay producers now have access to more forage quality information inside CattleMax.
Hay Production Totals
Hay Production Reports now display summary totals directly in the report header, making it easier to evaluate overall production at a glance.
Additional Hay Test Values
Hay production records can now capture:
- Dry Matter (DM)
- Acid Detergent Fiber (ADF)
- Neutral Detergent Fiber (NDF)
- Relative Feed Value (RFV)
These values also appear in Hay Production Reports.
Reproduction & Herd Management Updates
Several improvements were added to simplify reproductive recordkeeping.
Group Entry Improvements
New group update tools now allow:
- Comments to be entered during Preg Check group updates
- Reference measurements to be added during Measurement group updates
- Pelvic and reproductive measurements to be entered in grid format
These enhancements reduce repetitive data entry and make processing large groups faster.
Animal Records & Data Entry Enhancements
A number of updates were made to streamline animal data entry.
New Animal Entry Improvements
When adding animals or calves, default PH number locations and brand locations can now automatically populate based on your herd settings.
Harvest Status Updates
Entering harvest information can now automatically update an animal’s status when appropriate, while preserving important status information for sold animals.
Animal Activity Improvements
Animal IDs are now displayed more clearly throughout activity entry screens, making it easier to confirm you’re working with the correct animal.
Partner Connections & Breed Association Enhancements
The new Prime Pursuits Partner Connection makes it easy to import parentage and carcass data into CattleMax, giving you a more complete picture of animal performance. By bringing this information into your herd records, you can better evaluate genetics, track performance, and make more informed breeding decisions, all while reducing duplicate data entry.
The new Fusion Partner Connection makes it easy to share cattle records with feedlots using Fusion software. Export individual animal records—including health history, breeding records, calving data, weights, and weaning information—in a Fusion-ready format to reduce duplicate data entry and maintain record continuity as cattle move from the ranch to the feedlot.
Behind-the-Scenes Improvements
In addition to these new features, our team made improvements across reporting, rainfall tracking, breeding status calculations, imports, exports, sale reports, CCIA integrations, DML2 imports, and breed association interfaces. These updates help keep your records accurate and your workflow running smoothly.
