Add Your Herd to Get Organized
Download from your Breed Association
CattleMax works with dozens of cattle breed associations to ease the process of getting started with better records. Many associations offer an electronic file copy of your records, such as identification details, 3-generation pedigrees, current EPDs, and more which can easily be imported into CattleMax. This is a great way to get started with records of your current cattle inventory.
Import from Spreadsheet
Quickly and easily import animal details and records using the Spreadsheet Import process. Whether you have just basic inventory records or have multiple record areas, you can save time and effort while having all of your records in one location.
Individually
Cattle records can be added one by one. Only 1 form of ID (such as an ear tag) and animal type are required. Enter as much or as little information as you have – you can always add more information later. Setting defaults, such as breed and owner, will help you save time and keystrokes. It’s good to focus on adding your current inventory and then add historical records if you choose.

Update from your Breed Association
Some associations generate an electronic file of registration numbers for your newly registered animals, which provides an easy way to update your records. In addition, some associations can generate an electronic file of current EPDs so you can quickly and easily update those values for your cattle records in CattleMax.
Spreadsheet Import
Sometimes recording details in a spreadsheet or on equipment such as a cattle scale indicator is a good fit when working cattle. Easily import those records into CattleMax using the spreadsheet import process. No more hours of time and effort adding records manually when the details can easily be quickly added to CattleMax.
Group Update
Adding cattle events such as weaning and treatments is easy with Group Update. Simply select the cattle, enter the details, and the records are up-to-date. No need to go to each animal’s record – Group Update will copy the details to each animal’s record.

Reports are a key tool to help make informed herd management decisions. CattleMax has pre-set reports that can easily be customized for certain columns, sorting, filtering, and more. Print on your printer or save it as a PDF. Have more specific reporting needs? Generate a new report and even export the report to spreadsheet format for further analysis.
Worksheets for data collection
Worksheets are a helpful way of generating easy-to-read printouts for use in the field. Multiple options are available for key management action categories like production, cattle inventories, and treatments. Select pre-filled columns and also add blank columns for recording the information you need. Enter the information into a spreadsheet for easy importing into CattleMax, or use Group Update to update the cattle records easily.
