Customer Success Story - Grunniens Ranch
At Grunniens Ranch near Elbert, Colorado, Eddy Sanders, his family and his father, Edward, run between 50 and 80 head of Tibetan Yaks. His record keeping is done using CattleMax software as he has done since 2006.
First, a little about Tibetan Yaks: they are native to the Himalayan mountains of Tibet, Nepal, and the surrounding areas and were first domesticated over 3000 years ago (a long, long, time ago, frankincense and myrrh were big in those days). Yaks (bos grunniens) are members of the Bovidea family and are cousins of domestic cattle (bos tarus/bos indicus) and bison (bison bison).
Eddy grew up raising wheat and a few head of cattle in Montana. He has been in the Yak business since 2004 and recently has experienced a fairly dramatic increase in sales of his Yaks and Yak products.
Along with the Yak business, Eddy operates a Revegetation and Stormwater contracting business from his location northeast of Colorado Springs.
Using CattleMax to create custom, professional sales catalogs quickly is one of Eddy's favorite features of the program. Along with the sales catalog feature of CattleMax, Eddy makes use of the inventory reports in the software frequently. Eddy's advice to new users of CattleMax, "Just start using it - you don't have to have it all figured out first."
"We have seen great benefit from CattleMax when planning breeding of our Yak cows. I can easily look at cows and determine which bulls I want to cover. It is also valuable for culling cows due to the detailed records available on their calves," Eddy says.
Recommending CattleMax to people who buy from him and also to neighbors with traditional cattle or bison is a normal thing for Eddy. Although he found CattleMax through searching the Web, Eddy says he feels he can help people better manage their operations by recommending the program for their operations.
CattleMax, says Eddy, "Helps us take our Yaks to the max!"
