We Are Cattlesoft
We are cattle producers just like you. We work hard at it, enjoy the lifestyle and take satisfaction in providing fellow ranchers with the resources they need to continue living the life they know and love. The rising costs of fuel, feed and fertilizer are forcing us all to be better managers. Organization and analysis are becoming critical to survival. That said, CattleMax is proud to offer a technology-based solution that allows you to keep up in the rapidly-changing cattle business.
A Quick History
Terrell and Penny Miller came up with the idea for a cattle software program back in 1997. It was the result of an independent study project they worked on as students at Texas A&M University. Two years and a couple of “I Do’s” later, the newlyweds got the opportunity to further develop their program to meet the record keeping needs of Hilliard Ranches in Milam County, Texas.
The incredible response by ranch manager Jim Howell, combined with the reaction of a few other cattle producers, encouraged Terrell and Penny to pursue CattleMax software on a wider scale and commit to the business full-time.
Since that time, CattleMax has been adopted by more than 5,000 cattle producers across 50 states and 35 countries. The continued support and feedback of our customers has led to the recent development of the 4th version of the software.
An Aggie Tradition
In 2006, Cattlesoft, Inc. was honored to be included in the Aggie 100 as one of the top 100 fastest-growing companies owned or operated by graduates of Texas A&M University. We were the only agricultural company amongst the 100 to earn this achievement.
Meet the Team
Terrell has a background in information technology and business, having a BA in Information and Operations Management, and an MBA both from Texas A&M University. He is responsible for the marketing efforts of the company, as well as overseeing the programming and development aspects of the software. Being around family Texas Longhorn cattle helped strengthen his cattle experience.
Penny brings additional cattle knowledge by showing registered heifers and market steers at the county fair as well as the major shows in Texas. With a BS and MS in Agricultural Development (now called Agricultural Leadership) from Texas A&M University, Penny blends the knowledge of cattle production and personal development skills to assist with marketing efforts and head the customer service team.
Ken Lyon toured in the US Navy and went on to make a career in computer programming. He now resides near Yantis, Texas with his wife Becky and their small herd of commercial Brangus cattle. Ken has used CattleMax since the first version, and his goal is to provide other CattleMax customers with the same friendly, quality support he has received.
Nathan has experience with the Texas Cooperative Extension and the ag chemicals business. Nathan and his wife Phyllis own a herd of commercial Brangus cattle in Winters, Texas. After retiring from years of working in weekly newspapers, Nathan purchased CattleMax in 2006 to keep his own cattle records, and joined Cattlesoft to be a part of helping other producers become more successful.
