Working with Stocker/Feeder groups in CattleMax

"Our ranch selects/purchases calves to carry through the stocker phase after weaning. How do we keep records on these calves?"

Raised calves will have invididual records entered into the program. If calves are purchased as stockers, they can be entered individually as purchased calves. As the calves enter the stocker phase, you may set up a separate Category of "Stocker Calves" and categorize the individuals and/or a Stocker Calves group can be set up and the individual stocker calves put into that group. A new Cattle Group can be set up by going to Cattle Groups on the top ribbon of the program or clicking on the Cattle Groups icon on the home page, and naming the group, then selecting the cattle to go into that group.

The Stocker/Feeder area of CattleMax is designed to keep basic information (transactions) for groups of
stocker/feeders not individually identified. This area of CattleMax is completely separate from the individual cattle records area.  Enter that area of the program by either clicking on Untagged Cattle on the top ribbon or selecting the Stockers and Feeders icon on the home page.  Weights and Gains, Feeding, Carcass and Financial records are all kept as a group and averaged over the group.
