If you run/manage cattle together (such as Commercial and Registered, multiple breeds, etc) you can create one CattleMax file and use record features such as the Category, Comment or a Cattle Group to help distinguish between them in the records and for reports.

You should only create completely separate herd files if the cattle are not/will not ever be managed together nor if you do not need them on the same report.

Be aware there is not a way for separate files to ever be automatically merged into one file nor appear on the same reports (due to the structure and detail of the files).
