Inventory reports list animals multiple times

The Cow and Bull Inventory reports list the animals multiple times because they are in multiple production years.

To select down to just one production year, you will need to filter for the selected production year.  For example, there are records appearing several times when no filters are set.  When a filter is set to narrow the Cow Inventory by Pasture report to  Production Year 2008, the report should show only the cows in that pasture in the Production Year 2008.

In Reports, to set a filter, click the Customize Report link in the top right corner of the report, click on the Filter tab, and in the "And Where" box, choose Production Year.  When you do that,  a list of the production years appears to the right  and you can select the particular production year you want.  The inventory report should list the cows in that production year only.

Using production years adds some additional structure to the software, especially the Reports and Herd Update. The main reason to use production years is to keep track of historical palpation results (for example - to know that cow 001 was palpated bred 2 years ago, palpated open last year, palpated bred this year, etc).

The production years system does not need to be enabled if you just want to record current pregnancy/palpation results. If you decide you really don't need to use production years, you can disable the option by clicking the Settings tab, choosing Preferences, clicking the Preferences tab and checking the "Enable Production Years" (so the box is blank).
