"How do I convert my herd file from my older version of CattleMax to CattleMax CS?"
Cattlemax CS has a file converter included in the software. To convert your herd file from CattleMax 2006 or older version of the software:
1. First, be sure to make a backup of your herd file in the older version of CattleMax. Then, click on the Microsoft Office button (the multicolored button at the top left) in CattleMax CS, then select Convert/Convert Herd File from a Previous Version.
2. A window will open which should show, Look In: Cattlesoft folder and your older version of CattleMax and CattleMax CS should show below. Double-click on the older version name (CattleMax 2006, etc.) and that will show the contents of the folder--should be Backup, Data, System. Double-click on Data and your herd file should be listed in the window.
3. Double-click on your ranch herd file and the conversion process will begin. Follow the instructions on the screen and when finished you should get a message telling you the file has been successfully converted. On the CattleMax CS home screen you should see under Current Herd File: C:\Cattlesoft\CattleMax CS\Data\YourRanchName.cmdb
4. Make a backup of the new CattleMax CS herd file.
