CattleMax is not Finding my EID Reader

Ensure that the reader is connected to your computer, and that the power supply has been connected.

Also, verify that no other programs are open that would be using the EID reader (Hyperterminal, wedges, other EID reading software, etc). In addition, ensure that you are specifying the correct com port. For more information about locating the com port, consult your EID reader manufacturer.

Sometimes, the bluetooth drivers will drop the connection to the reader, so check the drivers (the way for the equipment to communicate with the computer) to make sure they are functioning properly.

Errors can occur when another program is accessing the com port when CattleMax tries to. Try re-booting the computer and then opening CattleMax (without opening any other programs).

In the rare situations where CattleMax is still unable to communicate with the reader, we have found that one or more of the following can be sources of the problem:
- Electronic interference with other bluetooth devices
- Outdated bluetooth or USB drivers
- Another program was closed but did not release the COM port when it exited
