Working with grafted/surrogate/twin calves
"How do I enter a grafted calf? How do I designate twins?"
On the calf's General screen, check the "Grafted Calf" box. A Genetic/Donor dam box will appear with the "Birth & Status" records. CattleMax considers the dam as the cow that is raising the calf. The genetic/donor dam is considered the cow that gave birth to the calf.
For twins, it's best to enter a unique identification for each calf into CattleMax, such as 123A and 123B. This enables you to distinguish between the calves in the records and on reports. When you completed the Ranch Interview as you began to use CattleMax, you had an opportunity to select whether or not you wanted to be able to enter a twin code. If you checked that, then under the calf's Details tab, there is a place to enter a twin code. You may set up your own, or, if your breed association has twin codes they use, you can use those codes.
