In CattleMax, the term "promoting" or "promotion" is used to indicate that a calf should now be listed in the Bulls/Cows list. When this process is followed, the animal's "Type" is changed from Calf to Bull or Cow.

Changing/indicating a Category (on the individual animal's General tab) is just on the record level and does not affect/perform the actual promoting process. Any category name can be entered, such as "2007 Replacement Heifers".
