Land and Cattle is a registered Brahman and commercial F-1 operation located in Allen Parish, Louisiana. They use extensive embryo transfer work in their herd of over 400 cattle.

Janice Burgess has used CattleMax to keep records for
Land and Cattle since 2003, and says the program is extremely easy to work with.

She said her favorite feature in CattleMax is the report feature. With hundreds of cattle located across two states, the reports allow her to print reports specific to each location from her centralized records.

Before CattleMax, Burgess said her husband, who manages the cattle in Louisiana, kept records by hand in a binder, and the Jennings, Texas location kept their records "in their memory."

She said that CattleMax has been most beneficial in their operation by allowing them to "trace back" breeding records to verify sires.

Burgess said she received her certification to show her employers she was staying up on the program and was knowledgeable about the software.

"I saw it [the certification program] and thought it would be helpful," she said, "I thought it would give me better understanding of the program, and help me explain it to my employers or anyone else interested in keeping better records on their cattle."

Burgess said she would also be interested in offering consulting services to other cattle producers on using CattleMax.

"CattleMax is the easiest program on the market to use and understand," she said, "I've tried several, and this is the best."
