Customer Success Story - Richardson Cattle Company

Richardson Cattle Company has been ranching in southeast New Mexico since 1977. The ranch is located on the edge of the Chihuahuan Desert in Eddy County and encompasses approximately 145,000 acres on which they run approximately 1,000 cows.

The Richardsons (Jimmy, his wife Linda, and Dad, Charles) raise commercial Angus cattle, using registered Angus Bulls, and market All Natural Angus Beef. According to their website, "Only cattle that were bred, born, and raised on our ranch qualify for our ALL NATURAL ANGUS BEEF program. We control the genetics, the health, and the diet from birth to harvest."

Richardson Cattle Company also operates a backgrounding operation for feeder calves. Cattle coming into the backgrounding program can be processed according to the owner's specifications. This includes branding, ear tags, or other requirements.

The Richardsons first learned about CattleMax record keeping software from other users. Up until their purchase of CattleMax in 2007, all records were kept by hand, in notebooks, etc. First using CattleMax 2006, then upgrading to CattleMax CS when it was released, Jimmy says the favorite feature of CattleMax is the Reports function. "We probably use the Cattle Inventory report more often than any other," he says. Because of the help CattleMax has been to the Richardson operation, Jimmy says he wouldn't hesitate to recommend the software to others.

As a long-time cattle operation, depending solely on the cattle for income, the Richardsons say, "Through the years we have seen good times and hard times, but regardless of the circumstances, our ultimate goal has been to be responsible and faithful stewards of the resources God has given us."
Record keeping with CattleMax helps the Richardsons do just that!
