Customer Success Story: MM Cattle Co.

In western Georgia, not far from the Alabama line, Mike and Christy McCravy run a successful Angus-based cattle operation, specializing in raising bulls for commercial producers and show heifer prospects for junior exhibitors.

The McCravy’s raise registered Angus cattle as the seedstock for the commercial bulls and show heifers they market, as well as replacement females they place in consignment sales each year. MM Cattle Co. has seen a great deal of success in the show ring recently with heifers in the club calf show circuit.

Mike has been involved in the cattle industry all his life, and is currently serving as president of the Georgia Cattlemen’s Association.

At the time version 1 of CattleMax was released, he was looking for a software program to transition his paper records into a more modern computerized system. He tested at several trial versions for different programs, and was pleased with what CattleMax had to offer.

Since then, MM Cattle Co. has upgraded to each new CattleMax edition, and remained a loyal customer for the past 10 years.

“It simplified my record keeping,” he said, “Instead of having paperwork scattered, I can pull up information at any time.”

MM Cattle Co. uses AI and embryo transfer breeding extensively in their herd to promote quality genetics. They are able to record and track these advanced activities with CattleMax.

In the McCravy’s diverse operation, they have found the fully custom reports available with the Report Wizard (now located in the MS Access Companion) to best fit their reporting needs.

“I like to make my own reports,” Mike said, “I can generate the reports, and put them in the truck or have them at the chute to record or look up whatever I am doing at the time.”

Overall, Mike said that CattleMax has helped improved organization for MM Cattle Co.

“I can use a combination of my CattleMax records and information available through the American Angus Association to make my breeding and culling decisions,” he said.
