Customer Success Story - Grazing Meadows Wagyu
Grazing Meadows Wagyu is located 2 kilometers east of Brussels, Ontario, Canada. Tim and Donna Prior own and operate Grazing Meadows Wagyu along with their 3 kids, Nathan, Taylor and Emily.
On their 100 acre grazing operation, they have 30 beef cows, some fullblood, purebred and some crossbred Wagyu. They also graze approximately 75 stockers on their farm. Besides the cattle business, Tim and Donna own a farm supply business which sells feed, fencing, water systems, animal health supplies, feeders, etc.
The cattle are fed naturally and growth hormones are not used on the Wagyu cattle. The cows or heifers this year have been bred AI using top Australian bulls or a live full blood bull. All the animals have full traceability back to birth. A full history of each animal is available utilizing CattleMax software.
Tim says, "My favorite feature of CattleMax is 'everything.' It's an awesome program. If users will just use it, play with it, attend the free Webinars, and ask questions, you will learn better how to utilize all the features." Because they use electronic Identification tags in their cattle, he says he utilizes a report in CattleMax which gives him the EID with the birth date of the animal regularly.
Recommending CattleMax to his customers in the farm supply business is a common thing for him, Tim comments. Prior to using CattleMax for his record keeping, he used paper and pen for his records. Now, he says, "After using CattleMax for approximately a year and a half, there's nothing more I need for records - this program does it all." His operation has benefited greatly from the ability to keep the full history of animals and the traceability required for food safety.
