Microsoft Access Learning Resources
Learn more about using Microsoft Access and the CattleMax Access Companion!
CattleMax is developed using the Microsoft Office 2007 technologies. Not only does this ensure maximum compatibility with your Microsoft Windows XP or Vista computers, but it also creates special interfacing opportunities.
We developed the Microsoft Access Companion as a free add-on program to the CattleMax software to help ranches with Access experience harness the full power of Microsoft Access to create their own reports and queries, special modifications to custom reports, and integrate with other information systems such as ERP or accounting systems.
Though the Report Wizard is accessible through the Access Companion, you do not need Microsoft Access on your computer - the Report Wizard works normally in that no changes are made to the records and no special software is needed.
We provide the Companion as a courtesy to ranches who can benefit from the program and their own Access skills. Though we are happy for ranches to learn more about Access, our support of the Companion is limited to CattleMax-specific questions. General usage and "how to" Access questions are better answered through the following resources or with the help of a skilled Access programmer.
For the beginner, Microsoft Access can be a fun and exciting skill to learn while also improving your reporting capabilities for your ranch. When I was a student at Texas A&M, my first book was Microsoft Access for Dummies. You can work with Microsoft Access by pointing-and-clicking to create the reports you need without ever having to "program" or "write code".
